What to Pack for Your Adventure in Pakistan

When packing for your adventure in Pakistan, the key is to travel light. Although drivers and helpers may assist with your luggage at times, the terrain and travel conditions make it impractical to bring large suitcases.

Here’s what you should consider bringing:

Main Luggage:

  1. One large backpack or suitcase

  2. A small bag or daypack for essentials (phone, camera, money, passport)

Essential Documents:

  1. Original CNIC (Pakistani Identity Card) or passport

  2. Valid Pakistani visa (for foreigners)

Clothing:

  1. Warm, quick-drying layers for mountainous terrains

  2. Warm jacket and thermal wear

  3. Raincoat

  4. Joggers

  5. Trekking shoes, socks, and a trekking stick

  6. Warm socks, gloves, and a cap

  7. Sun protection: hat, sunscreen, sunglasses

  8. Sandals

  9. Modest clothing: shirts/t-shirts, trousers, pants, combats, jeans (avoid shorts, bikinis, or short-sleeved clothes)

  10. Headscarf or shawl for women to cover head or chest

Travel Gear:

  1. Torch

  2. Reusable water bottle

  3. Travel chargers with multiple sockets (two round holes; voltage in Pakistan is 220-240 Volts)

  4. Extra camera battery (if needed)

  5. Power bank (electricity outages are common)

  6. Ear plugs

  7. Quick-dry travel towel

  8. Travel pillow

Health and Hygiene:

  1. Regular medications (vitamins, painkillers, anti-allergies, etc.)

  2. Suggested extras: bug repellent, stomach antibiotics, bandages, motion sickness pills, skin ointment, fever, headache or flu pills

  3. Sanitary products (can also be bought in major cities like Lahore or Islamabad)

  4. Wash-bag with essentials: soap, small shampoo bottles, nail clippers, metal mirror, deodorant, toothbrush, toothpaste, laundry detergent

Miscellaneous:

  1. Books or journals to read

  2. Smartphone with music player for long drives

  3. Travel bag locks for luggage security

  4. Neck wallet or money belt for passports, cash, air tickets, and other valuables

This list is a guideline to help you pack conveniently. Feel free to adjust based on your specific tour requirements and personal preferences. Happy travels!
